Somalisa Camp
Overview
Somalisa is one of Hwange's signature camps, set on the edge of an ancient seasonal floodplain in a private concession known for enormous elephant herds — which famously come to drink from the camp's "elephant pool" beside the pool deck, sometimes just metres from guests. Seven elegant tents blend contemporary luxury with classic safari style, and the game viewing across diverse terrain is excellent. Fully inclusive rates cover game drives, walking safaris, meals and drinks.

Somalisa Elephant Wallow Safety Guide
Somalisa Camp sits directly on a major elephant path in Hwange National Park. Elephant families regularly visit the plunge pool right on the main deck, offering guests an incredibly close encounter.
- Speak in hushed tones: Loud voices can startle elephant herds.
- Remain seated: Standing up or moving suddenly can make elephants defensive.
- No flash photography: Flash is strictly prohibited as it can irritate the animals.
- Respect the boundaries: Do not reach out or cross the deck perimeter under any circumstances.
